Suspension
Servicing, Design, Analysis and Modification
To improve the handling of your car you need to deal with a technician who understands how it works! It is surprising how many claim to know, but do not. This understanding of how it works, together with our experience in this field is what separates us from the rest.
 |
At Corse, we start with analysing what the client and the car requires; is the driver a novice or a professional, is the vehicle being set up for tarmac rally, circuit or both, tyre type etc. Once we have determined the requirements we then gather the following criteria:
|
• Weight – overall, front to rear distribution ratio and individual corner
• Weight of the unsprung mass
• Suspension datum points
• Existing and available camber, caster and toe specifications
• Suspension motion ratio's
• Existing and available suspension travel
• Spring, shock absorber and anti roll bar rates
• Tyre types and sizes |
 |
 |
With these specifics, along with customer requirements, we can also use the computer application "Susprog3D". This enables us to create kinematical models to identify and better investigate virtual points such as roll centres and their migration under dynamic conditions, such as in chassis roll and bump etc. This being of critical importance in race car handling. |
Without this computer aid it would be very difficult to replicate this on the workshop floor.
We have all the necessary equipment to carry out chassis measurement, wheel alignments, corner weights and spring rate tests.
